We are delighted to announce that artist Pham Luan’s painting ‘Our View’ is now on display at The New York Historical in New York City, following its acquisition by the museum in September 2025.
Our View. 2007. Oil on Canvas. Pham Luan
The work was officially featured from 27 March 2026. Artist Pham Luan and his family were at the museum to celebrate this special occasion. Mr. John Day, whose generous gift made the museum’s acquisition possible, was also in attendance, alongside Vietnamese Ambassador to the UN and his wife.

‘Our View’ captures a striking autumn scene in New York from the window of John and Judy Day’s apartment where artist Pham Luan often stayed when he’s in the city. The painting is a “poetic complement” to the museum’s prestige collection of scenes of New York City from the promised gift of Elie and Sarah Hirschfeld.
The New York Historical (New York City)
With his work featured at The New York Historical, artist Pham Luan reaches an important milestone in his career, joining a lineage of artists who have portrayed the city through their own perspectives and artistic styles. Luan’s work now stands alongside those of renowned figures such as Mark Rothko, Edward Hopper, David Hockney, Andy Warhol, Marc Chagall, and Georgia O’Keeffe. His work will contribute to enriching the museum’s narrative of New York City as a subject of artistic inspiration.
